Does your unit have a great Scouting program? Camping, Advancement, Great Organization? Membership Retention? BSA’s Journey to Excellence (JTE) self-evaluation tool helps leaders in each unit recognize their strengths and identify challenges to address. As part of an annual assessment, it provides an opportunity to take stock in the status their programs and plan for the future.
What does it take to be a quality unit? A good understanding of Scouting, an active program, engaged participants, a solid adult volunteer corps, and a commitment to delivering a great experience for Scouts. Check out Scouting’s Journey to Excellence webpage to learn more about the evaluation and criteria.
Many units achieved the Gold, Silver and Bronze excellence designation in 2017. See a list of Powhatan units recognized for program quality below. If your unit has achieved this honor, Scouts and leaders qualify to wear the the official Journey to Excellence award patch on their uniforms.
